Downtown Erie bar cited for liquor code violations

An Erie bar faces numerous citations for alleged violations to the state’s liquor code.
Officers with the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement filed the citations recently against Papa George Country Bar & Grill, 1021-23 State St., for incidents that occurred earlier this year.
The bar was cited for failing to clean its malt or brewed beverage dispensing system at least once every seven days between Sept. 23, 2010, and Sept. 23, 2011; for having fortified, adulterated and/or contaminated liquor on Sept. 23; and for failing to be a bona fide restaurant by failing to maintain sufficient food items between July 23, 2010, and Sept. 23, police said.
Citations also were issued against the bar for failing to report a change of manager between July 23 and Sept. 23; for failing to keep records on the premises on Sept. 23; and for failing to maintain complete and truthful records covering the operation for a period of two years immediately preceding Sept. 23, police said.
The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge, police said.

A downtown Erie bar is slapped with several violations, after an inspection by Erie’s Nuisance Bar Task Force.
From August 2010 to August of this year, Erie police responded to 107 calls for service at Papa Georges Bar at 10th and State street. 
Mostly fights and disturbances, police say using up a lot of police resources over the year.
They’ve also had numerous written complains against the establishment.So, on Friday various law enforcement agencies, the Erie fire and health departments, and code enforcement, conducted an inspection.
Police say all agencies discovered numerous violations, and the investigation is on-going.
